An Eventful Weekend

This past weekend was a crazy one, but definitely amazing. My boyfriend and I went back to Tampa to attend his sister's wedding. I decided to wear the bright blue dress from H&M that was on Fashion Star with the cut-out back - I'm obsessed. It was the perfect dress for the occasion, and a statement white necklace looked great with my sky-high wedges.

Saturday, we headed back to Orlando to attend my sorority's Formal, or Sapphire Ball as we call it. I had frantically searched for a dress, and finally found a hot pink Jessica Mcclintock short dress that I loved. My boyfriend, Jordan, found a light pink shirt and matching striped tie, paired with a brand new pair of classic black and white converse. During the event, superlatives were awarded, and I was awarded the title of Best Dressed :) Overall, they were such fun events, and I had a great time this weekend!

Did you do anything fun this weekend? What's your go-to wedding outfit?

Maxi Madness

Spring and Summer are the perfect seasons for a floor-sweeping maxi dress. They've been trending during these warm weather seasons for the past few years, and they definitely aren't going anywhere this year! With so many different styles, colors, and patterns, it's not hard to fall in love with more than one. Whether it be a tribal pattern, pastel hue, or semi-sheer fabric, these girly dresses are flattering and perfect with a pair of sky-high wedges or strappy flats. For a day by the pool, or a night out on the town, maxi dresses are a definite must-have.

Do you have any maxi dresses? Which are your favorites?

Current Unknown Obsession: Polka Dots

D

Apparently I've been unaware of my current polka dot obsession. Almost all of the things that I've bought in the past month or two have polka dots on them, and I didn't even realize this until my most recent purchase of a polka dot dress from Forever 21 on Thursday. Polka dots seem to be pretty popular right now considering that they're popping up in stores everywhere. They're cute and girly, and celebrities are also loving the trend!

Do you own a lot of polka dot pieces? Do you have a polka dot obsession too?

A little blurry, but here's the orange shirt from Forever. I wore it this past weekend :)

My Newest TV Addiction: Fashion Star

I'll admit, I can get sucked into TV shows really easily - whether it be reality, dramas, or competitive shows, when I start watching a TV show, I just can't stop. That being said, I'm officially addicted to NBC's newest reality show - Fashion Star. It's sort of like an updated, new, and fresh take on Project Runway.

Fourteen designers create a new piece each week in three different variations (mostly just color differences), and three different buyers - one from H&M, Macy's and Saks Fifth Avenue - decide if they want to buy the designer's pieces. If they do, then those designs can be bought the next days in that store. If a store buys your design, you're safe for the week. If not, you're up for elimination. The judges are allowed to save one person from the bottom three, and the buyers decide which of the bottom two goes home. Sort of hard to explain through text, but if you see the show, it's a lot more understandable.

The show is hosted by Elle Macpherson, and three judges, Jessica Simpson, Nicole Richie, and John Varvatos, serve as mentors for the designers and comment on the final products. Even though the show has only aired two episodes so far, the piece that Saks bought last week is already sold out!

I already have two favorite designers too - Sarah Parrott & Orly Shany. Sarah's designs from the past two weeks were both bought by H&M. I'm in love with the Bright Blue Backless Dress and the Tuxedo Trousers, and with a thrifty price of $19.95, I'm dying to get my hands on both! Orly Shany's Zip Mini Skirt was bought by Sak's and was so unique and innovative! I was shocked when her design from last night wasn't bought by anyone. It was a convertible dress that could be totally transformed.

I can't wait to see the rest of the season, and hopefully buy some of these amazing pieces! If you want to check out Fashion Star, tune into NBC on Tuesday nights at 10/9c.

Do you watch Fashion Star? Have you bought any of these pieces? Who are your favorite designers?

***Update: 03/23: I went and bought the blue dress from H&M! There were only two left when I got there, but luckily one of them was in my size :)

Spring Must-Have: White Lace Dress

If there's one piece that I'm dying to add to my spring wardrobe, it's definitely a loose fitting white lace dress with sleeves. Lace is one of my favorite trends to begin with, and it's definitely a popular trend on the runways right now for spring.

I envision myself with minimal accessories, a pair of flats or butter brown riding boots, and the perfect tan. The look is so simple, yet so chic With flowers blooming, the sun shining, and the weather finally warming up, the bright white color is a complete change of scenery considering the dark hues of winter.

If you know where I can find the perfect dress, please let me know! Perfect as a day dress or a cover-up for the beach, I'm sure the white lace dress will be a popular trend this spring.

Do you have a white lace dress? What's your spring must-have piece?

Elie Saab & Monique Lhuillier: Pre-Fall 2012

Collections for Pre-Fall 2012 are finally hitting runways, and I'm falling in love with all the dresses. I've always loved the designer Elie Saab. I did a post about the Spring collection last year (click here). The collection again had me in awe. The dresses are pristine and sharp and the simple colors are perfect for any night out. See all the looks here. My favorites from the collection are shown below.

Monique Lhuillier's collection also had a few show-stopping gowns that I adored. I wasn't a fan of the entire collection, but it was definitely worthy of an honorable mention for the few dresses that really stood out. Click here to see the full collection.

What are your favorite Pre-Fall 2012 collections?

America's Next Top Model, Cycle 17: Michael Cinco

America's Next Top Model Cycle 17 just ended last week, and part of the last two episodes, the final four contestants filmed a short movie for Tyra Banks' new book, Modelland, and I couldn't help but notice how amazingly gorgeous the yellow gowns that they wore were! Those beauties were designed by Michael Cinco, an amazing designer, especially for wedding gowns. He also designed the three dresses that the ladies wore in the runway show on the finale. Allison's yellow dress was my favorite, but Angelea's was a close runner-up.

As for the Allstar season itself, I always loved Laura. Although she wasn't too high fashion, fans fell in love with her bubbly and girly personality. She got eliminated the second to last episode, and three finalists remained: Allison, Lisa, and Angelea. After the runway show and Covergirl shoot, the ladies were brought to the elimination room, but Angelea was missing. Apparently, Angelea had actually won the competition, but had posted something on Facebook about her winning, which was against her contract, which disqualified her from the competition Therefore, they had to do a re-elimination, where they announced Lisa as the winner.

Did you see this season on ANTM? Who were your favorites, and who do you think should have won?
